Walmart Expands Delivery Options Ahead of Holidays

Walmart Delivery

Walmart said on Thursday (Oct. 21) that it’s extending store delivery hours during the holiday season, adding more delivery windows for customers to get their orders and more delivery-eligible items in anticipation of the annual shopping rush.

Drivers will be making deliveries from Walmart stores until 10 p.m. local time, two hours later than normal, according to a blog post by Tom Ward, SVP of last mile for Walmart U.S. That means customers can order products until 6 p.m. that are eligible for same-day or next-day delivery.

Customers will also have more time to amend their orders, meaning they can add an extra item that was inadvertently left off and still get it with the rest of the order.

Walmart will also add more delivery windows for local orders through a new feature called Shopping and Delivery on the Spark Driver app. This gives service providers the chance to shop and deliver customers’ orders even when existing delivery times are full. The feature will cost $7.95 to $9.95 for one-time deliveries and an extra $10 for Express delivery within two hours, with Walmart+ members getting unlimited free deliveries.

Finally, Walmart is adding oversized items — including bicycles, TVs and artificial Christmas trees — to the list of delivery-eligible products from more than 2,800 stores. Also, alcohol is now available for pickup from 3,000 Walmart stores and for delivery from 1,500 locations.
