AI-Powered Resale Baby Gear Marketplace Rebelstork Makes US Debut

Overstock, open box and used baby clothing company Rebelstork has expanded into the U.S., according to a Friday (April 22) press release.

Rebelstork is a sustainable platform that connects buyers and sellers with real-time market pricing and product information using technology, the release stated. The expansion will bring Rebelstork’s resell service to Brooklyn, New York, and the company will sell across Canada and all 50 U.S. states.

Rebelstork was founded by Emily Hosie, a mother of two who identified the growing void for accessible baby gear and the industry’s need for sustainable reengineering.

“We are thrilled to bring our innovative marketplace to families in America and our resell service to one of the most innovative cities in the world,” Hosie, who is also the company’s CEO, said in the release. “While safety and quality will always remain at the forefront, we know today’s parents are concerned with how their purchases will affect the newest generation, and demand options that focus on accessibility, sustainability and education.”

She added in the release that Rebelstork supports parents in making informed, eco-smart purchasing decisions, using its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered pricing tool, REV, which generates real-time estimated value on more than 10,000 baby items.

Earlier this month, childrenswear subscription service Dopple became the latest entry into the growing sector, which is expected to experience a boon as people find themselves paying more for gas and food than ever before.

Dopple partnered with Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS) platform Treet, a move that company officials said is a natural extension for the brand that caters to customers who continue to outgrow their products.

The new service, dubbed ReDopple, allows customers to buy secondhand goods from Dopple’s more than 380 brands. Sellers can get 80% of the sale value in cash or 100% in credit to use at Dopple as part of the new initiative.
