Best Buy Teaming With Marques Brownlee on Influencer Initiative

Consumer electronics retailer Best Buy Co. Inc. is partnering with tech influencer, reviewer and video creator Marques Brownlee on “Rewind: Tech from 2021,” in which Brownlee will highlight his top tech products and customers can shop Brownlee’s curated selection.

“This year has been packed full of exciting tech innovation,” said Katie Huggins, associate manager, PR, Best Buy, in a company announcement. “We’ve seen new products that help you entertain, create and accomplish those big (and little) goals every day.

“To help you navigate all that was new to the tech space over the past year, we partnered with tech influencer, reviewer and video creator Marques Brownlee. From smartphones and headphones to gaming consoles and drones, he’ll highlight all the important features you need to know about each device,” she said.

The year-in-review, which will be shared on Best Buy’s social media platforms and include supporting content on @MKBHD, feature also includes technology predictions for 2022. Brownlee has millions of followers on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms.

“I’m excited to show off my favorite tech gadgets from this past year and take a look into what’s ahead,” said Brownlee in the Best Buy announcement. “Best Buy has the expertise and selection on all the amazing tech out there, so teaming up with them was a natural fit. We’re showcasing all of this in one place to help people easily learn about some of the best products out there right now.”

In November, fashion apparel retailer Express, Inc. hired fashion designer Rachel Zoe as lead style editor for its expanded Community Commerce initiative. Zoe will offer Express style editors expertise and tools, and use her knowledge to shape the future of the retailer’s collections.

Monthly active Instagram users crossed the 2 billion mark late in December and TikTok crossed the 1 billion user threshold earlier in 2021.

The company formerly known as Facebook, meanwhile, tried to make a digital coin specific to people using WhatsApp and Facebook as it pushes further and deeper into the metaverse.
