ADP Debuts AI-Driven Payroll App For SMBs

ADP has introduced its new RollTM by ADP® payroll app, which is available to U.S. small business owners beginning Thursday (Feb. 25). Small business owners can run payroll from any location at any time through the service, according to an announcement emailed to PYMNTS.

“Small business owners have been impacted by the pandemic in a way we have never seen in our history,” Joe DeSilva, president of small business solutions at ADP, said in the announcement. “As they continue to rebuild, the last thing an employer needs is to focus time and resources on another process that can be arduous or perceived as cost-prohibitive.”

DeSilva said that Roll by ADP changes the way small companies will think about payroll by “turning it into an experience as familiar as having a conversation with a friend.”

Entrepreneurs can use an artificial intelligence (AI)-backed conversational interface to finish payroll by saying “run my payroll.” The app has a one-time 15-minute set-up, and reminders are provided for key tasks as well as deadlines. Moreover, the AI-backed program becomes more intelligent as time goes on, making tasks simpler. It also comes with a built-in tax filing feature in addition to real-time, in-chat support. Workers can harness the Roll app to revise all of their personal information and view pay statements. They will receive notification of payday.

“Roll by ADP is the latest example of the future of pay, giving small business owners something they never knew they needed – an intuitive, AI-driven app experience,” Don Weinstein, corporate vice president of global product and technology at ADP, said in the announcement.

For all of the many challenges that the pandemic has made for the world of work, it’s also made some opportunities. Jeff Gies, ADP vice president, told PYMNTS in a past Masterclass discussion that one such opportunity has been the financial wellness offerings that a number of employers are developing for workers who now get electronic pay.
