Financial Data Platform MX Co-Founder Passes Away

Brandon Dewitt, co-founder and chief technology officer of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company MX has passed away, according to a letter from Founder and CEO Ryan Caldwell.

“He loved MX and the whole team fiercely,” Caldwell wrote. “His brilliance, boundless positivity, wonderful wit and ability to be joyous and grateful, regardless of what challenges he faced, will continue to affect and inspire those that knew him for the rest of our lives.”

Dewitt received a stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2016, but he had “thrived” and set “a passionate standard for excellence in everything he took on,” according to the letter.

“He inspired us all to be better every day,” Caldwell wrote.

MX works in SaaS and makes products for companies, including banks, credit unions and FinTechs. It also helps them manage finances more easily.

“Brandon blessed each one of our lives in so many ways and he will be greatly missed,” Caldwell wrote. “I know so many of us are indescribably grateful to have been able to share parts of our journey with him, build with him, and to have been able to call him friend.”

In September, MX teamed with integrated money movement company Payveris in order to boost account connectivity for financial institutions (FIs) and FinTechs looking to expand money movement services. The partnership is an effort to get organizations to roll out intelligent digital payments to their customers and through the Payveris MoveMoney platform.

“We respect Payveris as a leader in the money movement space, and we’re excited about this partnership because it will help our joint customers have full control over almost every aspect of the experience for money movement,” Dewitt said at the time.
