Dash’s Coming Great Leap Forward

If recent reports are correct, it looks like a lot more brands could be coming soon to an Amazon Dash near you.

Which brands exactly remain something of a mystery box, but according to Wall Street Journal reports citing anonymous but knowledgable sources, the online retail leader will be announcing dozens of new brands with buttons to call their own. Amazon Dash buttons, for the still uninitiated, are small internet connected buttons that making purchasing simple household items literally push button simple.

About two months ago Amazon did its most recent push to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Dash button. Dash got off to something of a rocky start since Amazon mistakenly released right before April Fools’ Day and it was initially mistaken as a prank.

And though no one is laughing now, Dash has not quite set the world on fire either. Less than half of those who bought the buttons actually used them.

But then Dash buttons are but a single chapter in Amazon’s longer book on how to draw customers in and keep them hooked with the right combination of low price, good service and push button ease.

Buttons that are largely free, as they cost $4.95, but consumers are reimbursed for them.
