IKEA Moves Into AR Furniture With Apple Partnership

Following its Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple has another announcement.

The tech giant recently shared its new partnership with IKEA and is moving forward on an augmented reality (AR) mobile app that will give consumers a try-before-you-buy furniture shopping experience. Consumers will now have the opportunity to select pieces of IKEA furniture to virtually place in digital renditions of their homes prior to purchasing with this new smart technology.

Apple’s new AR development team includes engineers and developers from top technology companies like Facebook and Microsoft, setting this new offering up for potential success. The app is set to launch in fall 2017, but, as of publication time, a specific date had not been announced.
