Harman, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, has introduced a generative artificial intelligence (AI) solution for healthcare enterprises.

This Healthcare Private Language Model (LLM), HealthGPT, empowers healthcare professionals, researchers, and institutions in delivering advanced patient care, conducting medical research and making informed decisions, the company said in a Friday (Oct. 13) press release.

HealthGPT is built on responsible AI principles and has undergone extensive testing for accuracy and hallucinations using the company’s automated LLM testing framework, according to the release. The results have been validated by healthcare subject matter experts.

One of the key advantages of HealthGPT is its ability to provide real-time, context-aware clinical insights, the release said. This feature aids healthcare professionals in making critical decisions.

Additionally, the model offers an end-to-end Language Model (LLM) fine-tuning framework, allowing for optimal performance, per the release. It also provides a data generation framework for creating high-quality customized datasets, further enhancing its performance.

Health GPT has an automated LLM evaluation framework to check ensure the quality of outputs, factual correctness, hallucinations and toxicity of the fine-tuned LLMs, according to the press release. The company also cites cost optimization, saying the model utilizes advanced deployment techniques like quantization to reduce its size, leading to reduced processing costs.

Moreover, HealthGPT has the potential to accelerate drug discovery and research by extracting valuable insights from clinical trial data, the release said.

Nick Parrotta, president of digital transformation solutions and chief digital and information officer at Harman, said in the release: “HARMAN Health GPT is an example of our capabilities that will help organizations utilize specific industry trained models to better solve unique problems and add value for customers. With our long-standing AI expertise and ability to develop effective LLMs, we’re equipped to help our clients move past challenging roadblocks and fully capitalize on the exciting promise of generative AI.”

PYMNTS Intelligence has found that the generative AI market for healthcare is valued at more than $1 billion as of 2022, and it is projected to swell to nearly $22 billion by 2032. Healthcare-focused companies and startups are turning to generative AI innovations to tackle complex drug discovery, diagnostic testing and patient care challenges, according to “Generative AI Can Elevate Health and Revolutionize Healthcare,” a PYMNTS and AI-ID collaboration.
