Notable has added an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered assistant to its automation platform for patient engagement and staff workflows.

The new Notable Assistant uses large language models (LLMs) and conversational AI to help patients interact with the healthcare system, the company said in a Tuesday (Sept. 12) press release.

Notable Assistant is designed to provide patients with easy access to healthcare information and services, eliminating the need for phone calls to overloaded call centers, according to the press release. With this tool, patients can manage everything from appointment scheduling to bill payments using their native language and voice commands.

Patients prefer digital tools for basic healthcare tasks, but often end up being redirected to phone calls, leading to frustration and inconvenience, according to the release. Notable Assistant aims to address this issue by offering a personalized and accessible experience for every patient. By leveraging the data within the Notable platform, Patient AI, Notable Assistant acts as a guide, navigating patients through the complexities of the healthcare system.

One of the features of this assistant is its ability to provide a single, AI-powered entry point to healthcare services and information, per the release. Patients can access services such as finding a doctor, scheduling appointments or paying outstanding bills through their healthcare system’s website, mobile application or portal. Notable Assistant utilizes content from a health system’s website, call scripts, existing staff workflows and electronic health record (EHR) data to offer a seamless and personalized healthcare journey for each patient.

Notable Assistant is highly customizable, allowing it to match brand guidelines and tone of voice, according to the press release. It can understand and answer questions in over 130 different languages. Health systems can further enhance its capabilities by uploading additional documents, such as call center training manuals, to improve its responses. Plus, real-time insights and reports generated by Notable Assistant enable health systems to gain a deeper understanding of patient and consumer needs.

Pranay Kapadia, CEO and co-founder at Notable, said in the release: “The addition of the Notable Assistant to our platform continues to set the bar for outcomes our health system partners can achieve. It allows them to deliver a differentiated patient experience and enable their care team members to practice at the top of their license, all while embracing the latest in AI in a safe and responsible way.”
