Provider Ranking Tracks Meaningful Moves Among Aggregator Apps

DoorDash

Election over: check. COVID vaccine in-market: check. Food delivery aggregators continuing to deliver through what could be the weirdest winter on record: check and mate.

Big brands are dominating, as they tend to do, in PYMNTS’ latest Provider Ranking of Aggregators. Familiar names are found this month in spots they’d like to settle into permanently in some cases — like the top five — but apps can be fickle. So, we track them.

The latest ranking holds at least one nosebleed of a jump. Check it out.

The Top Five

The most recent Provider Ranking of Aggregators had DoorDash at No. 1, where it remains, as does Uber Eats at No. 2. Potential IPO Deliveroo stands fast at No. 3, with growing Grubhub staying put at No. 4.

We promised a surprise, so here goes: Making a flying leap from the lower half of the Top 10 last go-round, Instacart levitates four chart positions, entering the top five at No. 5. There’s lots of action around that app to explain the move, like same-day delivery with select merchants.

The Top 10

It gets interesting in the lower half of this Top 10. You may notice some shifting — and you’d be correct. The top five hopefuls experienced a few changeups since the last Provider Ranking of Aggregators, starting with Just Eat dropping one spot to No. 6. Also down one spot, but still in the Top 10, is India’s Zomato app at No. 7, after recently raising $102.5 million in fresh capital.

Moving on, the Glovo “on-demand courier” app didn’t budge from its place at No. 8. Then we have Postmates falling two spots to No. 9. Finally, at No. 10 – exactly where we left it – is the Skip the Dishes app. And that’s a wrap for this edition of PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Aggregators.
