AcceptEmail’s “Bill Pay The Email Way” Launches In US

AcceptEmail, Western Europe’s consumer bill pay option that claims making a payment is “as easy as email” has launched a new business voyage in New York City.

But just how easy is “easy,” and how much time and money does the company claim it can save people?

“Paying their bills with AcceptEmail will save people an average of six days’ time each year. That adds up to 700 million days for the whole United States. 700 million days at $142.50 a day – based on median household income – equals $99 trillion,” said Peter Kwakernaak, CEO of AcceptEmail.

Kwakernaak kept a tongue-in-cheek tone in the company’s release as he cited why AcceptEmail was opening its business in New York, saying “We are going to pay America back for the bargain we got for Manhattan in 1629,” which continued on into his comments about how the company plans to pay it back to America.

“All of the real estate in New York is now worth about $915 billion. That’s considerably more than the 60 guilders we paid in 1629. But once we get up and running it will take us 108 days to repay the people of America the current value of the property they sold us. It’s the least we can do,” he said.

All jokes aside, Kwakernaak said that AcceptEmail can help create better relationships between businesses and customers by making the bill payment experience less of a hassle. It also is said to reduce overhead and help accelerate cash flow for businesses. AcceptEmail also supports many online payment methods, including debit cards, credit cards, wallets, and alternative payment methods.

“We believe that the process of payment is an integral part of every customer journey, and we strive to make it as mutually convenient, secure, and satisfying as it can possibly be,” Kwakernaak said.

In a recent interview with PYMNTS, Kwakernaak shared his forward-thinking vision for bill payments. He said he likes to think of the bill-payment experience from the side of the consumer in order to make it easier for everyone involved in the transaction.

“We believe in pushing the bill,” he said. “That doesn’t mean a notification that you can login to find your bill on somebody’s portal.” Rather, AcceptEmail is designed to present bills “at a place where [you are] very often. That’s either on your PC, tablet, or on your mobile – and that’s in mail.”
