The company, which plans to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT, disclosed a roughly 1,300% revenue increase in its S-1 prospectus. Cost of revenue rose to $2.38 billion from $1.02 billion, implying a gross margin of 85%, up from 12% a year earlier. Operating losses narrowed to $693 million from $2.1 billion.

Beyond the financial results, the filing details Anthropic’s enterprise adoption, revenue model and computing requirements.

Anthropic Approximates a $40 Trillion Opportunity

Anthropic estimates its total addressable market at more than $40 trillion, based on the economic value generated by knowledge workers globally in 2025. That is roughly one-third of the world’s $117 trillion economy, according to IMF estimates, and exceeds the roughly $31 trillion U.S. economy. The figure represents the economic activity Anthropic hopes to serve, rather than a forecast of AI spending.

The company is pursuing that opportunity through Claude models, its developer platform and applications including Claude Code and Claude Cowork. Its ambition is to develop “Virtual Collaborators” capable of completing complex, multistep professional tasks autonomously.

Consumption-based fees generated $13.06 billion in first-half revenue, up from $983 million a year earlier, accounting for about 80% of the total. Customers pay by the token, and the price depends on the model they choose. Subscription revenue increased to $3.22 billion from $180 million, much of it from fixed-fee Claude Pro and Max plans.

Computing and infrastructure expenses climbed 283% to $8.95 billion, although they declined as a share of revenue to 55% from 201%.

11,900 Customers Now Spend $100,000 or More on Claude

Claude Code started with individual developers who adopted autonomous coding agents before enterprise procurement teams had a category for them, according to the S-1. Engineering teams standardized on it, and other departments followed. NASA engineers used it to plan navigation commands for the Mars Perseverance rover, producing the first AI-planned drive on Mars.

Now, more than 11,900 customers generated at least $100,000 in trailing annual revenue as of September, up from more than 950 a year earlier. These customers accounted for $12 billion, or 74% of first-half revenue. More than half of them use the Claude Platform and at least one Anthropic application.

The clientele includes every Fortune 10 company and more than half the Fortune 500. More than 1,900 customers generated at least $1 million annually, while about 250 generated $10 million or more. Within the Fortune 500, customers include the 10 largest banks, nine of the 10 largest pharmaceutical companies and eight of the 10 largest healthcare companies.

Partners carry much of the distribution. Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG and PwC bring Claude to clients as systems integrators, while Salesforce and Snowflake offer it through their data platforms. Anthropic also launched Ode with Anthropic, an AI services company formed with private equity firms to reach mid-sized businesses.
