Flowspace has launched a new tool that automates workflows in the management of transportation and freight.

The new FlowspaceAI for Freight is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) and is designed to remove tedious tasks and improve overall efficiency, the provider of tools for managing fulfillment said in a Tuesday (July 25) press release.

“Harnessing the power of automation, FlowspaceAI for Freight is a cutting-edge tool that empowers our customers to achieve unprecedented levels of efficiency and productivity,” Flowspace Vice President of Product Karen Chao said in the release. “AI only amplifies the power of the Flowspace platform and its ability to meet the needs of merchants.”

FlowspaceAI for Freight is designed for use by both direct-to-consumer (D2C) and B2B brands, according to the release. It instantly adds booking date confirmations to orders, generates and attaches appropriate documentation, and improves workflows and processes.

The tool joins Flowspace’s existing AI-powered solutions that perform tasks like recommending an optimized fulfillment footprint and examining merchants’ data to help improve fulfillment operations, the release said.

“As the role of AI-powered automation expands, Flowspace is building along the leading edge of emerging technologies, committed to maintaining the privacy and security of merchants benefiting from these tools,” Flowspace Vice President of Engineering John Tokash said in the release.

There is no shortage of players and platforms seeking to use software, data and analytics to transform logistics. They aim to use these tools to match supply and demand more adroitly, leveraging the cloud to do so and linking various modes of transport.

In June, commerce and logistics solutions company Cart.com raised $60 million in a funding round to boost its international expansion and meet increased demand from enterprise and B2B customers.

In May, European eCommerce giant Otto Group formed a partnership with AI robotics company Covariant to use its robots to automate a range of fulfillment activities. The merchant said it will use the robots to boost operational efficiency and improve the overall quality of work within its fulfillment centers.
