Global commerce enabler Digital River has debuted a new Drop-in Checkout offering, letting brands accept payments more quickly without major investments in development or resources, according to a press release emailed to PYMNTS.

The release says this will help brands access a new solution for payment development, which will cut the time, upfront costs and technical work for brands to work on global eCommerce.

“With our Global Seller Services, Digital River has always focused on simplifying eCommerce for growing brands, and our Drop-in Checkout solution gives them a powerful tool to maximize efficiency,” Adam Coyle, CEO of Digital River said in the release. “Going global is an important yet difficult step in today’s world, so intuitive, easy-to-use products that cut through the complexities are always going to appeal to our customers.”

Per the release, Drop-in Checkout allows for newly updated payments, compliance and tax requirements, allowing brands to enable new payment options.

In addition, Drop-in Checkout allows for international transaction and data compliance, dynamic payment and language localization, along with easily customizable checkout styles.

The new service is an addition to the several Digital River solutions, letting brands control customer experiences with varying levels of customization.

Recently, Digital River’s Vice President of Partnerships and Alliances Michael French said eCommerce has more often been used as a cross-border method, including demands that firms ship directly into markets.

Companies have had to deal with several challenges as they try and expand their customer bases, including localizing checkout and payment options, and dealing with local rules on taxes.

Digital River has also tried to boost cross-border expansions through adding new Asia Pacific markets, and the company said its application programming interface (API) integrations would allow brands to gain entrance into more areas.

French told PYMNTS that the new features will include giving customers who use the Avalara tax platform more insights into costs, including more updated reviews of duties, taxes and fees.
