Online marketplace Poshmark — which focuses on the sale and sharing of clothing — has debuted Stylist Match, a voice-enabled offering that the company will use to help connect buyers and sellers in real time, and which works with Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa.

Chain Store Age reported news on Friday (Nov. 17) that Stylist Match can ask Alexa a command such as, “Alexa, ask Poshmark to style me,” and the Amazon voice assistant will choose the event for which the consumer will be styled, such as date nights, cocktail parties or brunch with friends.

Alexa’s algorithms will connect shoppers with stylists who can offer retail suggestions via virtual dressing rooms.

As noted in the article and via statement from Manish Chandra, CEO of Poshmark,  “Since day one, we’ve focused on building a highly engaged community, enabling our network of Seller Stylists to deliver a shopping experience that’s personal, not just personalized. With the introduction of social styling, we’re revolutionizing the way people shop by combining data, social interactions and people-powered commerce to create the fashion mall for the Instagram generation.”

Beyond the technology announcement, Poshmark also said this week that it has grabbed $87.5 million in Series D funding from a series of investors. The funding round was led by Temasek, with participation from Menlo Ventures and GGV, among others.

PYMNTS noted earlier this week that the retailer has raised $160 million. The investment just announced is earmarked to boost technology, including artificial intelligence initiatives. Poshmark also will expand operations internationally and seeks to partner with more small and mid-sized businesses.
