On-demand delivery of bargain-priced merchandise will be available to consumers under a new partnership between Big Lots and DoorDash.

With the new agreement, consumers can choose from 36,000 Big Lots items on the DoorDash app and website — an assortment ranging from home goods to cleaning supplies — and have them delivered from one of the home discount retailer’s 1,400 stores, according to a Thursday (Sept. 15) press release.

“Over the last few years, our team has worked hard to make shopping our unique assortment of bargains, treasures and essentials as convenient as possible for customers,” Big Lots Senior Vice President of eCommerce Erica Fortune said in the release. “This partnership with DoorDash is a natural next step in our journey, adding an additional option for on-demand delivery of the big brands and surprising finds our customers love at dare-to-compare prices.”

To promote the new partnership, consumers can get 50% off their order through Sept. 30. In addition, Big Lots items are available with lower-cost deliveries via the DoorDash membership program, DashPass.

“We know convenience and affordability remain top of mind for consumers,” DoorDash Vice President of Business Development Shanna Prevé said in the release. “Our Big Lots offering helps shoppers who are looking for ways to maximize their budgets while still getting the items they need fast at an exceptional value.”

As PYMNTS reported in May, Big Lots showed a rise in eCommerce use but a decrease in sales during the quarter ended April 30 as consumers wrestled with inflation and fuel prices.

CEO Bruce Thorn said at the time that the company expected the retail industry landscape to remain “challenging,” but he added that eCommerce remained a “standout” for the company and accounted for more than 7% of its sales — with same-day deliveries increasing 20% year over year.
