Designer Brands Unveils Immersive ‘Warehouse Reimagined’ Concept

Designer Brands Inc., the parent company of shoe retailer DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, joined the immersive, experience-based retail trend with the debut of its Warehouse Reimagined retail store format, according to a Tuesday (May 10) company press release.

The upgraded design, launched in Houston, uses “modernized merchandising,” including shop-in-shops, offerings for the entire family and imagery that reflects head-to-toe lifestyle apparel, according to the release. It also features sections dedicated to some of the national brands available at DSW retail locations.

“We have leaned heavily on customer insights and digital capabilities to showcase our Owned Brands and are partnering with top National Brands to give customers an exciting 360-degree experience,” said Designer Brands Chief Executive Officer Roger Rawlins. “This new format also features expanded and upgraded services and order pick-up areas to make the shopping experience more convenient. Optimization of space helps us ensure our top items are always in stock, building on our hard-earned customer loyalty.”

The Warehouse Reimagined design is part of Designer Brands’ plan to have its owned brands account for nearly 30% of sales by 2026. The new store features product displays with oversized graphics and modular store walls that adapt to each store’s planned promotions. The kids’ section features products at their eye levels, interactive games and the ability for kids to size themselves and pick their own products. Rounding out the enhancements are easier-to-find selections and merchandising based on customers’ shopping habits.

Warehouse Reimagined will also continue the company’s philanthropic partnership with Soles4Souls. DSW recently topped 6 million shoes donated to the organization.
