Alcoholic Beverage Subscriptions Have Popularity Potential

Wine

It may still be uncommon for consumers to receive their alcoholic beverages via subscription service, but as the options out there become increasingly convenient and subscriber-friendly, the space may grow increasingly popular.

By the Numbers

Research from the September edition of PYMNTS’ Subscription Commerce Conversion Index, “Subscription Commerce Conversion: The Challenge of Cheaters,” created in collaboration with sticky.io, found that the consumer experience with alcoholic beverage subscriptions is getting better each month. These services’ index scores, which measure consumer experience and friction in the customer journey, reached 49 in July, up from 47 in May and 45 in March.

A Closer Look

The alcoholic beverage subscription space includes cocktail-making kits such as Cocktail Courier, curated beer selections such as Craft Beer Club, and specialized wine boxes such as Winc. The space tends to target those who have more than just a casual interest in beverages, generally offering expertise and higher-end products for more premium price points.
