The integration expands on Forter’s fraud management for agentic commerce capabilities, which now uses Skyfire’s know your agent (KYA) protocol data to enhance decisioning on agentic purchases, the companies said in a Monday (Oct. 19) news release.

This additional layer of intelligence comes as agentic orders on Forter’s network have jumped more than fourfold since August, the release added.

Eran Vanounou, Forter’s chief product and technology officer said the partnership addresses where ecosystem friction is most acute, arguing that agentic commerce fails if retailers can’t tell authorized buyers from scripts attempting to look like one.

“Leveraging Forter and Skyfire lets businesses confidently validate both the identity of the AI agent and the trustworthiness of the underlying consumer,” said Vanounou. “We are empowering digital commerce leaders to welcome AI-driven purchases while protecting their bottom line from fraud.”

Craig DeWitt, co-founder and head of product at Skyfire, added the integration takes away one of the biggest hurdles to scaling agentic commerce.

“AI agents represent an entirely new channel for commerce, but today’s fraud and security systems weren’t built to recognize them,” DeWitt said, adding that the integration of Skyfire’s KYA identity and Forter’s fraud decisioning will help merchants separate “trusted, authorized agents” from malicious bots.

“This is a critical step toward making agentic commerce as secure, seamless, and scalable as traditional online shopping,” DeWitt said.

Research by PYMNTS Intelligence has identified the rise of bot traffic as one of the “most pernicious problems in digital commerce,” with 90% of enterprises saying that managing bots has become a major challenge.

The research, from this year’s report “How Enterprises Can Build a ‘Know Your Agent’ Defense: Digital Identity Verification in the Age of Bots,” shows that outdated digital identity controls are costing businesses almost $100 billion per year in fraud, false declines and lost customers.

When verification systems cannot reliably tell legitimate users from harmful activity, businesses end up blocking good customers. This can hinder onboarding and increase manual reviews, problems that reduce conversion rates and slow growth, the report said.

“As automation spreads across onboarding, transactions and supplier workflows, enterprises must move beyond static identity checks toward continuous verification frameworks that authenticate not just people and businesses—but also the autonomous agents acting on their behalf,” PYMNTS wrote in March.
