The Great Reopening brief

The Great Reopening: Doubling Down On Digital derives into the details of how many consumers plan to keep shopping online, and through which digital channels, after the COVID-19 pandemic subsides. We surveyed 2,065 U.S. consumers about how they are shopping and paying for eCommerce purchases and how much more or less they are doing so than they were before the pandemic began to provide a glimpse of what a post-pandemic economy could look like.

Inside the May study:

  • 33.8 percent: Share of consumers who “very” or “extremely” likely to consider merchants’ digital offerings when deciding where to shop
  • 40.2 percent: Portion of consumers who want merchants to adopt digital options because they fear they may contract COVID-19 without it
  • 270 days: How much longer consumers believe the pandemic will last
