UK Banks Embrace Android Pay

In a continuing acceptance and adoption of Android Pay, four banks based in the United Kingdom have signed onto the payments platform.

DigitalLook reported on Tuesday (Sept. 13) that the quartet, which includes Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander, Natwest and Ulster Bank, have thrown in their lots with the Google payments offering, which launched earlier this year.

The site posited that the latest announcement represents “welcome news for Google, as previous skepticism from certain groups held up its development for customers.”

The announcement also means that a dwindling number of banks in the region — among them, Barclays and TSB — still have yet to sign onto the service. The newest additions follow the May 2016 signups of HSBC, Bank of Scotland and Halifax in lockstep with Google’s system.
