UPS has bought Texas-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company Delivery Solutions, which will provide retailers with “out-of-the-box” same-day delivery solutions, according to a Tuesday (May 31) press release.

Additionally, Delivery Solutions’ technology platform helps retailers ship from distribution centers and stores, and offers curbside and in-store pick up solutions. It can also help retailers manage the post-purchase customer experience.

Per the release, the technology will add flexibility and “an engaging online purchasing experience as they increasingly look for an experience-driven omnichannel strategy.”

UPS said that once a company begins using the Delivery Solutions platform, they’ll be able to better meet delivery needs by connecting with an ecosystem of delivery companies in the same-day space.

Delivery Solutions will operate under the same leadership as “an agnostic, multi-carrier platform” and will be run independently under the same name. It will look into making new solutions to help out with end-to-end online shopping, the release said.

In March, Delivery Solutions announced that it would be onboarding Walmart’s GoLocal service on its platform as a last-mile delivery service.

“The collaboration will further enable Delivery Solutions customers to deploy an omnichannel shopping experience complete with express, same-day and next-day delivery, providing retailers of all sizes with reliable, fast and efficient delivery,” the company said in a press release at the time.

Walmart GoLocal General Manager Harsit Patel said the company wanted to “share our expertise in local delivery with businesses of all sizes.”

“Due to our coverage, cost and extensive delivery capabilities, we know that Delivery Solutions customers will find the fulfillment options that best fit their needs through Walmart GoLocal, including delivery in as little as 30 minutes,” Patel said.

All of this comes as there have been advances in mobility and online access to give customers more delivery options following the pandemic. Delivery Solutions was founded in 2018 as a way to offer delivery intelligence for consumers browsing and looking into tracking.
