This offering is enabled by Treasury Prime’s new Prime Cash solution, which is powered by Green Dot’s embedded finance platform, Arc, and money processing network, the companies said in a Thursday (June 25) press release emailed to PYMNTS.

Prime Cash has been added to Treasury Prime’s embedded banking platform, which is used by FinTechs to build and launch financial products without having to become a bank, according to the release.

When FinTechs built on Treasury Prime’s platform add Prime Cash, their customers can generate a time-sensitive barcode within their app, present it at a participating Green Dot Network retailer, and add cash to their account. The funds are generally available within minutes, the release said.

Green Dot Network participants include Walmart, Walgreens and CVS, and there is a network location within three miles of 96% of U.S. consumers, per the release.

Treasury Prime CEO Chris Dean said in the release: “With Prime Cash, FinTechs can meet customers where they are, unlocking new growth opportunities while expanding access to essential financial services.”

Renata Caine, senior vice president and general manager, embedded finance at Green Dot, said in the release that this offering allows people who rely on cash to access better financial tools.

“We’re not just adding a method to transact in cash; we’re expanding who gets to participate in modern financial services,” Caine said.

The PYMNTS Intelligence report “Apple Pay @11: Usage Is Up, but Competitors Are Gaining Ground” found that digital cash balances are emerging as a major funding source for digital wallets. Between 2023 and 2025, the share of consumers who used digital wallets for their last in-store transaction funded by digital balances rose from 1.0% to 3.7%.

The report also found that 12.1% of consumers surveyed in 2025 said they made their most recent in-store payment with cash.

Green Dot announced in September that it partnered with Stripe to enable Stripe Treasury to use Arc to let users add cash to their accounts at any Green Dot money processing location.
