With Super Follows, creators can set up monthly subscriptions to monetize bonus consent, allowing them to diversify their revenue sources. The feature is available in the U.S. and Canada, but is expected to roll out in more countries soon.
“Stripe’s products now power many leading businesses growing the creator economy, including Clubhouse, Substack, GoFundMe, Kickstarter and Patreon,” the company said in a news release. “Stripe is also driving deeper shifts that allow creators and platforms to generate more revenue, open up new income streams, and turbocharge their growth — all powered by Stripe.”
For example, media companies such as streaming platforms ITVHub and Britbox are using Stripe to run subscriptions, allowing them to depend less on ad revenue.
“Empowering creators — and the platforms behind them — is one of the highest-leverage things Stripe can do to diversify and strengthen the internet economy; it’s exactly what we mean by ‘growing the GDP of the internet’,” said Connor Mullen, engineering lead for Stripe Express.
“With these new launches, Stripe is helping even more creators earn money online, build businesses, and save time so they can focus on what they do best: creating content.”
Stripe and Twitter had previously worked together on the Ticketed Spaces feature, a live audio conversation that the social media firm launched last week.
Ticketed Spaces will also let users dictate the sizes of their spaces and more easily promote them, reminding event attendees that the space is live with push-app notifications and in-app notifications. Users will also be able to share the details of their space directly to their home timeline, Twitter said last week.
The company also recently began piloting a Shop Module tool, which lets users click on and buy items without leaving Twitter. The tool focuses on viral discussions about for-sale products.
