Walmart Expands US and Canada Marketplace for Indian Exporters

Walmart is looking to make it easier for Indian companies to leverage its Walmart Marketplace to bring more products to shoppers ahead of the yearly holiday shopping season with a “Global Seller Summit” in Delhi recently, a company press release said.

The summit was held on Sept. 27. Walmart has been welcoming sellers from India to its U.S. Marketplace for much of 2022, with an “enthusiastic” response to customers in the U.S. being able to buy Indian products.

Now Indian businesses are also being invited to apply to Walmart Canada Marketplace as well.

The event in Delhi saw a number of companies being spotlighted, including Rage Coffee, a “plant-powered” innovator making instant coffees. CEO and founder Bharat Seth said the company, as a digital native brand, has been taking an “omnichannel” approach to cater to both online and offline customers.

“Our partnership with the Walmart U.S. Marketplace has helped us reach more consumers in that market and become part of their daily coffee routine,” he said, adding that the company wanted to grow more globally.

In addition, Mensa Brands, which is focused on investing in digital brands for fashion, home and beauty and personal care needs in India, was featured. According to founding member Pawan K Dasaraju, the company understands “the opportunity global eCommerce provides homegrown brands that aspire to grow and meet customer expectations in high-potential markets like the U.S. and Canada.”

“With resources like Walmart Connect, brands on the Walmart U.S. Marketplace can gain insight into what customers expect, build a custom assortment accordingly and work to ensure that quality standards are consistently met and improved upon,” Dasaraju said.

PYMNTS also recently wrote that India-based, Walmart-backed agritech startup Ninjacart has expanded through rolling out the Ninja Global platform for agricultural import-export businesses in the United Arab Emirates and Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries.
