Square Rolls Out Real-Time Sales Tracker

Square has launched another product aimed at simplifying sales data for its business owner clientele.

Yesterday (July 21), Square Dashboard the Square Dashboard app, which tracks a business’ sales data in real-time. This includes everything from gross sales, number of sales and a calculation of the average sale to a breakdown to what customers are buying that day. It also provides a quick insight into how the day is comparing to the previous day and week.

Beyond basic sales features, the real-time tracking app provides business owners with: sales summaries, sales comparisons, breakdowns of best sellers and how individual locations are doing.

As Square noted in its blog, a majority of larger businesses which are taking payments with Square are already using its analytics tools on a daily basis. Now, with the app, those business owners can track the data on the go and adjust sales strategies throughout the day based on how specific items are performing.

During its beta testing of Square Dashboard, Square reported that the average seller opened the app 12 times a day. Now out of beta, the app is compatible with iOS 7 and iOS 8 and available for download in the App Store.

Beyond the daily business tracking, Square has also recently expanded its business-specific services, including the launch of Square Payroll, which helps businesses pay employees and track salaries and tax information.

The payroll product is initially being made available for businesses in California for $20 per month and with an additional $5 per employee paid that month. Using the solution, businesses can not only calculate paystub taxes but also make employees clock in and out using the POS register.

Eyeing an even wider market of small businesses, Square has made its payroll solution available to even those businesses which don’t use the company’s mPOS terminal.
