Under the deal, CashStar’s retailer brands — which include Home Depot, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy and Starbucks — will get an additional distribution channel for their digital gift cards. For its part, PayPal will increase the number of options available to consumers through its gifting sites.

“We’re excited to work closely with PayPal and our top retailer and restaurant client brands on this solution,” said CashStar CEO Ben Kaplan. “As digital, mobile and social innovations continue to change the way consumers shop, digital gift cards thrive because of their ability to move seamlessly across channels.”

CashStar didn’t say how many of its more than 300 retail and restaurant brands would initially participate in the integration with PayPal, but Kaplan said his company will “rapidly grow this relationship with more retailers and increased sales.”
