British Parliament Hit By Laser-Focused Cyber Attack

This past Saturday (June 24) British Parliament was one such entity that fell victim to a cyber attack. Reports from this event stated that the hit was a “sustained and determined” cyber attack with the goal of finding weak email passwords.

With this cyber attack coming just one month after a ransomware infiltration into the country’s health service, the House of Commons is working with the National Cyber Security Centre to put together a new cyber security system.

In an effort to curb an attack in the interim, a House of Commons spokeswoman put out a statement, saying, “As a precaution, we have temporarily restricted remote access to the network. As a result, some Members of Parliament and staff cannot access their email accounts outside of Westminster.”
