Through the looking glass – tomorrow’s cashless society today ….and tomorrow.

With potential record numbers of visitors, the exhibition halls of the Villepinte congress center just outside Paris, France, came alive this week to the beat of electronic payments. Thousands of visitors descended on hundreds of stand exhibitors from across the world for the start of a three-day “payments feast”. MasterCard was there with its booth showcasing live examples of electronic payments from across the globe, from the latest projects in mobile and e-commerce to its Festival experience corner with PayPass wristbands, transit demo’s, MChip/advance and super-sized Display Cards.

At our media hour, partners from Intel were on hand to celebrate our new collaboration and Romanian banks, Carpatica and Credit Europe, revealed their plans as the latest European issuers of the MasterCard Display Card. Pippa Goodman, from international think-tank, the Future Foundation, summarised her organisation’s latest report on the future of payments, with some fascinating trends revealed on how today’s consumer will be shaping tomorrow’s world of payment.

We’ve captured some of the exciting events at the show in our Flickr photo album below:
