Rakuten Expands European Footprint, Enters Austria

Japanse Internet retailer Rakuten celebrated its fifth European eMarketplace with the announcement its entrance into Austria, reports Internet Retailer. The other European countries that Rakuten operates in are the UK, France, Spain and Germany. The marketplace allows merchants to create their own shops on the website so long as their products are consistent with their own eCommerce sites. Rakuten charges merchants in Germany and Austria €39 per month, including 6-10 percent of the transaction value. Mobile transactions require an additional 1 percent fee.
