During the Finder’s Forum event in London, the EU Commission named Trustev as the top startup in the EU, reported TechCrunch.
Trustev was founded on April 2013, by Chris Kennedy and Pat Phelans. The company’s mission is to authenticate online shoppers’ identities by developing a social fingerprint based on various online interactions, in addition to other information sources that verify the customer’s identity. For example, the system can check if the shoppers are in the appropriate geographical location.

Phelan commented, “Chris had been working on the code for almost 18 months; I joined him at Christmas to take it to commercial launch. We had built up many years experience of fraud in our last two companies.”
