Yesterday’s check-in on the proliferation of Square’s cardless payment app got us thinking: what other iOS applications are people using to pay? We’ve pulled data on a dozen other payments apps to find out.

    You may remember from yesterday’s article on Square that Apple doesn’t list the total number of downloads for each app in its store — but it does list another number that can be loosely used as a proxy for downloads: reviews.

    With that in mind, here are the numbers of reviews submitted by the users of more than a dozen payment apps, submitted over the lifetime of the application in Apple’s iTunes Store. (Any glaring omissions? Let us know in the comments!)
