Along with the ability to sign in to a cardholder’s account with the same user ID and password as before, users with Apple devices that have both iOS 8 and Touch ID can log in using the Touch ID sensor. Devices with the Touch ID hardware include the iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 Plus, and iPad mini 3.

The Android version of the app was also updated this week, but doesn’t offer fingerprint login for the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The number of iOS apps that make use of Touch ID has been increasing steadily since Apple made it available to third-party apps. Until iOS 8, the fingerprint sensor could only be used for unlocking the device itself and authenticating purchases in iTunes and the App Store.
