TSN conducted a multi-age research on knowledge and use of e-money online in Russia. Almost every respondent has knowledge about multiple payment options including e-money. The most used non-cash payment method is offline payment at kiosks, followed by payment cards and e-money.

    Overall 22% of the on-line shoppers used Yandex.Money in the last six months, compared to 21% for QIWI.Wallet, 19% for WebMoney, 14% for PayPal and 6% for Money@Mail.ru. Yandex.Money was widely used among all age groups; Qiwi was the second e-wallet chosen by teenagers while WebMoney was the preferred option for adults.

    In what regards the profile of on-line shopper 50% are men, 47% are managers or professionals, 65% come from high-income households and 40% are advanced Internet users.

    E-money is mostly used to pay for mobile services, internet access, home utilities, purchases at online stores and P2P transfers. Teenagers disproportionately use it for payments at social networks and on-line games.
