ReservationHop may soon be a literal blessing in the lives of those chronically unable to plan ahead well enough to make a dinner reservation (for free).  For a price between $5 and $10, users can snag a reservation at any number of popular places.  The app didn’t invent this concept-any number of apps will allow users to buy a reservation — but this app is unique because it doesn’t actually work with the restaurants it books at.  It seems the service just calls places, makes reservations and then (after a user has purchased the reservation) send the user the correct name to tell the host or hostess to seat them under.

So far the service has been controversial, as some eating-out enthusiasts have complained that the service is creating unnecessary competition for people who want to make reservations the traditional, free, way.

From Twitter, the responses were the typical well-reasoned intelligent critique the internet usually has to offer, reports Business Insider.

“Hey ReservationHop.com, don’t bother coming up to Seattle as you are everything that is wrong with the world on one web page,” noted one Tweet.

Others (on Twitter) have called the idea genius.
