Trump’s hotel management company, the Trump Hotel Collection, which manages and operates high-end five-star hotels in several major cities throughout the U.S., confirmed yesterday (July 1) that it is investigating reports of suspicious credit card activities linked to some of its properties.

Cybersecurity journalist Brian Krebs reported yesterday that several U.S.-based banks traced a pattern of fraudulent debit and credit card charges to accounts that had been used at Trump hotels.

Sources in the financial industry said they had “little doubt” that numerous Trump properties — in major cities including Chicago, Las Vegas, New York and Miami — are experiencing a card breach possibly extending back to February 2015, Krebs said.

In response to the reports, Eric Trump, executive vice president of development and acquisitions, told Krebs via email: “Like virtually every other company these days, we have been alerted to potential suspicious credit card activity and are in the midst of a thorough investigation to determine whether it involves any of our properties.”

“We are committed to safeguarding all guests’ personal information and will continue to do so vigilantly,” Trump said in the statement.

Just months ago, the Mandarin Oriental Group, another major hotel management company, was hit by cybercriminals in an attack that reportedly affected properties nationwide, including locations in New York, Boston, Washington, D.C. and Miami.
