Ride-hailing app Curb, which offers licensed taxi and for-hire rides across North America, has partnered with Uber to allow Curb-connected drivers to receive trip requests from Uber users, according to a Thursday (March 24) joint press release.
The collaboration, which will launch in New York City and expand across Curb’s nationwide network later this year, will allow “wider transportation options for riders and more trips for drivers as the taxi booking option becomes available in the Uber app,” the release said.
Through the integration, taxi drivers will have access to incremental trip offers from Uber on top of the millions of annual ride requests through the Curb app, while Uber users will have more ride options.
“We are excited to kickstart our partnership with Curb and allow Uber users to have immediate access to Curb’s taxi-hailing network, which will add tens of thousands of vehicles to the Uber platform in New York City and beyond,” said Guy Peterson, director of business development at Uber.
New York City riders can book rides in Curb-connected taxis through the Uber app in addition to existing vehicle options provided by Uber. Drivers on the Curb platform can accept Uber trip offers through their existing in-vehicle systems, in addition to the Curb app.

“We’ve found great success in creating incremental trip demand and revenue for drivers by integrating with several aggregators over the past two years, and this partnership builds on that success by delivering even greater opportunities for cab drivers to have access to an ever-widening pool of riders,” he said.

In April, Curb teamed with Gett to add tens of thousands of vehicles and licensed drivers onto Gett’s corporate ground transportation platform in 65 U.S. cities, including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City and Washington, D.C.
