Payop partners with Dragonpay to expand payment access in the Philippines

Payop, a global payment service provider, has partnered with Dragonpay, one of the Philippines’ top payment platforms, to make it easier for businesses to accept local payments. The integration allows Payop to offer more regional options, helping merchants better connect with Filipino consumers.

In the Philippines, both cash and digital payments play a key role. While cash is still widely used, more people are turning to mobile wallets and online banking. This partnership enables Payop to support both traditional and digital preferences, giving businesses broader reach in the market.

Why local payment options matter

Digital payments are rising fast. In 2024, 33.85 million people in the Philippines used digital payment services, mainly through e-commerce. Still, a Statista survey (statista.com) showed 94% of respondents continue to use cash. Meanwhile, e-wallet and online card payments reached 64% and 52% adoption rates, respectively.

This shift shows that offering a range of payment methods is essential for businesses operating in the region.

What this means for businesses

With Dragonpay integrated into Payop’s platform, merchants can give Filipino shoppers access to all major local banks and digital wallets at checkout. This means smoother transactions for users and better conversion rates for merchants.

Anastasiia Semenkova, CEO at Payop, explained:

“International e-commerce websites have previously focused on card payments for their expansion strategies, overlooking the potential to engage consumers who prefer alternative payment methods for everyday transactions. Our collaboration with Dragonpay not only enhances the payment experience for Filipino customers but also plays a crucial role in advancing financial inclusion in the region.”

“Online shopping is now more convenient than ever. Dragonpay’s solution integrates all major banks and e-wallets, allowing local shoppers to pay using their familiar methods at Payop checkout. We value their reliability and payment expertise.”

Dragonpay Founder and CEO Robertson Chiang added:

“Our collaboration with Payop enables us to provide a seamless and comprehensive payment experience to a broader range of consumers. By combining our local expertise with Payop’s international presence, we are confident that we can further enhance the accessibility and convenience of digital payments in the region, ultimately driving financial inclusion and growth.”
