Noting the anniversary of the launch of the generic prescription program, Kevin Host, senior vice president, Pharmacy, Walmart U.S., said in the release: “The opportunity now extends beyond the price of a prescription. PYMNTS reported in April that Walmart expanded its Better Care Services platform to support customers who are taking or considering GLP-1 drugs. The retailer is combining virtual care, nutrition services, digital tools and access to its nearly 4,600 pharmacies, while also offering same-day delivery in as fast as an hour in many markets and free deliveries for Walmart+ members, the report said.
Walmart launched Better Care Services in January, describing it as a digital destination designed to help customers access health and wellness services and products. At launch, Better Care Services offered access to third-party providers for urgent care and behavioral health, Eli Lilly and Company’s direct-to-consumer offering LillyDirect, and personalized food and recipe recommendations from Walmart’s artificial intelligence-powered Nutrition Hub.
