Welcome to Payments 2.0

You may find yourself wondering, as you log in this morning, if you have come to the wrong place.

Good news! You are in the right place. In fact, you’re better than in the right place; you’re in the best possible space on the Internet to learn everything there is to know about the payments ecosystem through the eyes of the people who are shaping it.

That said, change can be scary, we know. We just overhauled our website. But innovation is necessary, and for innovation there must be change.

Luckily, this change will be painless.  Especially with this brief overview of what’s new, what’s the same and what’s unbelievably awesome on the new site.  We guarantee that if you try it, you’ll like it.  You might even love it.

Same Great Content, Now Easier To Find

We’re still covering the playmakers, CEOs, innovators, startups, technology visionaries, venture capitalists and the multitude of other luminaries and cutting-edge ideas that have always typified our exit off of the information super-highway.  Actually, we plan on bringing you more – more features, more articles, a B2B only newsletter and a universe of expanding audio-visual experiences that our new website makes possible.

But now we’re also making it easy to find.  Instead of hunting around the site for the day’s top stories, they will always be prominently featured on the website’s homepage. If you type “pymnts.com” into your phone, tablet or computer’s browser, you will instantly have all our newest coverage at your fingertips.

If you want to stay abreast of what we have been covering by topic, our new site makes scrolling through the news categories as easy as running your mouse, or a finger, over a tab. This is true for all of our new sections – from Opinion, to Data, to Media Productions and to Company Spotlights – staying current is as easy as scrolling across the top of the page.

More Data

The best way to stay in the know is to be up on the most current information, and here at PYMNTS.com we are committed to making your data streams as diverse as possible.

We are now featuring several payments-industry indices that track the daily performance of public companies within various payments-market sectors, plus a general index that crosses all sectors for an overall market picture. Use of these performance data can help companies in the payments space gauge how the markets and various important sectors are doing at any given time.

The General Index has a starting point in Jan. 3, 2011, where we set a base of 100 for the index value. The General Index value continually changes as the end-of-day stock prices of companies represented within each sector fluctuate and depending on the weight each subcategory has in the index.

If the value of the index increases, the company stock prices, on average, within the index had increased. For example, if the value of the index is now 200, companies that are part of the index have increased their stock value, on average, by 100% since Jan. 3, 2011. The same occurs for each subcategory, as the value of each index varies depending the stock-price movements of the represented companies.

Coming soon we will also be featuring a Bitcoin Index, which will try to stay ahead of the rapidly fluctuating cryptocurrency.

The new site will also be offering a Daily Data Point, which will offer a single numerical snapshot of the payments ecosystem and the interactions of the players.

There is more to information than numbers, however, and so the new site will also be live streaming our Twitter feed.  The best way to know what’s going on is to keep up with the conversation, and that conversation is increasingly happening on social media. You can stay abreast of what industry leaders are talking about, tweeting and retweeting in real time, all while checking in with the latest in payments’ news.

Something for everyone, especially you …

The best new website is the website that stays new, and for that we’re going to need your help.  Please tweet us at @pymnts, reach out to us on Facebook , write us an email (info@PYMNTS.com).  We’ll read letters, we’ll tame carrier pigeons because what we really want to know is what you want.  If you could see anything you wanted on the PYMNTS.com website, what would it be?

Our virtual door is open, and we look forward to hearing from you.
