This capability is enabled by a new integration of Chargeback Agent into Maverick’s full white label, unified payments platform, according to the release.

Chargeback Agent is designed to remove the manual burden merchants face in preparing the evidence and the response required to contest chargebacks, the release said.

When a chargeback occurs, the AI agent automatically collects evidence from merchant systems, interprets card network requirements for reason codes, builds the rebuttal and submits the completed response, per the release.

With the new integration, Maverick’s partners can offer Chargeback Agent to merchants through the platform where they already process payments, without having to navigate network rules or write new code, according to the release.

Guy Dimaggio, senior vice president, operations and strategy operations at Maverick Payments, said in the release that this new offering helps Maverick’s partners bring meaningful business solutions to merchants.

“For many of the high-risk verticals we serve, chargebacks represent a significant operational and financial burden,” Dimaggio said. “Chargeback Agent helps address that challenge with AI-powered automation, while giving our partners a differentiated offering that strengthens merchant relationships and creates new recurring revenue streams.”

Findustry AI Founder and CEO Jonathan Razi said in the release that Chargeback Agent enables merchants of any size to deploy an “AI payments employee” to handle chargebacks.

“Like a good coworker, our AI agent will decide which cases to fight, which to automate, and which to surface for you to quickly review,” Razi said. “We’re proud to partner with Maverick to help their customers and partners not only increase win rates but also eliminate complexity.”

The PYMNTS Intelligence report “Recovering Revenue: A Merchant’s Guide to Automated Chargeback Management“ found that the cost and prevalence of chargebacks continue to rise and that automated dispute resolution tools are transforming the way merchants handle the complexities of these chargebacks.

Payments companies are adopting one-to-many distribution models in which independent sales organizations, independent software vendors and their downstream partners can extend merchant acquisition through networks rather than individual sales relationships, Jonathan Aguilar, AVP of Strategic Growth at Maverick Payments, told PYMNTS in an interview posted Thursday (Aug. 6).

This model increasingly depends on giving partners the infrastructure to operate through multiple channels, Aguilar said.

“The goal is to create a scalable growth engine,” Aguilar said. “But in order to do that, you want to be able to do that in multiple channels.”
