LevelUp, a mobile loyalty platform, expanded to Atlanta this week. The rewards service now operates in eight cities, including Boston, Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle.
To gain rewards, consumers use the LevelUp to pay for purchases with affiliated merchants. Merchants can then closely track their customers, each of which has a unique QR code to match consumers to transactions.

LevelUp launches its Atlanta service with 20 affiliated merchants, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The mobile commerce platform began operating in Philadelphia and Boston, its first two cities, in March.
LevelUp is a subsidiary operation of SCVNGR, which has itself raised $19.8 million in equity capital, including a $15 million round at the beginning of 2011 led by Google Ventures and Highland Capital Partners.
