China UnionPay Begins Contactless Payments

China UnionPay, the country’s only domestic bank card organization, unveiled a new app on July 12 that allows customers to link credit cards to NFC-ready handsets, Finextra reported.

    Eight banks signed up for the launch of the mobile payments system, including Bank of Shanghai, Bank of China, Bank of Beijing, China Everbright Bank, GF Securities, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, China CITIC Bank and China Minsheng Banking Corp.
