Spain’s CaixaBank Enters mPOS Market

CaixaBank in Spain announced its move into the mPOS market, as it unveiled a new partnership with Global Payments, reported Finextra. The companies are joining together to develop an app and Chip & PIN-based system that will facilitate card transactions.

    The mPOS device will be for sale online through the Comerica Global Payments venture website and also in 200 CaixaBank retail locations across Barcelona. The mobile app, currently available for Android users and soon to be iOS users, is free.

    The technology will accept card payments but it will also allow small merchants to store all the references in commercial catalogues on their mobile devices. Once a payment is received, the mobile app displays the total sale amount as well as the transaction details.
