A newly released patent application has uncovered that Apple may be experimenting with a version of near-field communication (NFC) that uses “body coupled communications,” NFC World reported on September 9.
The patent, which was filed in February 2013, describes a sensor built into the home screen button that could combine biometrics with NFC functionality. The information is consistent with past leaks that have indicated Apple is working on biometrics.
