To use the product, customers who choose to get their receipts digitally will receive a prompt that requests they rate their experience across a variety of categories including wait time, quality, customer service and environment. That data is then fed back to the seller. Square claims to process 10 million digital receipts per month.

Sellers will receive a notification when feedback is received and will be able to directly respond to customer feedback through text or email.

For a price. Merchants must pay a $10 monthly fee to access Square cash, as the service is intended to be a revenue generator for Square. The partner for the program announced as of yet is Koshland Pharm: Custom Compounding Pharmacy based in San Francisco. The move represents Square’s shift from wide reaching plays like its mobile wallet, to its business focused business. Business services like Square Register, Square Dashboard, Square Market, and Square Stand now dominate the corporate line-up and even consumer facing applications like order still serve the business community.

What does Square’s new direction mean for the company? Karen Webster has some ideas here.
