Continuing to bolster its eCommerce solution for B2B and B2C brands, logistics and transportation company Ryder System has acquired omnichannel fulfillment and distribution services provider Dotcom Distribution.

Dotcom Distribution serves retail and eCommerce brands in the health, beauty and cosmetics, and fashion and apparel verticals, and the acquisition will add these consumer brands to those already served by Ryder’s fulfillment network, Ryder said Wednesday (Nov. 2) in a press release.

“We look forward to welcoming Dotcom Distribution’s customers into the Ryder family of brands and capitalizing on the synergies created with the acquisition, as well as the improved scalability, flexibility and speed-to-market that our omnichannel and eCommerce fulfillment technology delivers,” Jeff Walpov, senior vice president of Ryder E-commerce by Whiplash, said in the release.

With the acquisition, Ryder also adds a 400,000-square-foot multiclient fulfillment facility in Edison, New Jersey, to its eCommerce and omnichannel solution that delivers to anywhere in the United States within two days and to 60% of the country within one day, according to the release.

In addition, Dotcom Distribution Founder and CEO Maria Haggerty and the rest of the company’s leadership team and operations team will join Ryder, the release stated.

“Dotcom Distribution has been doing eFulfillment since eCommerce was still in its infancy,” Ryder President of Supply Chain Solutions Steve Sensing said in the release. “Maria and her team bring 22 years of knowledge, expertise and experience in helping customers weather market fluctuations. That’s a big benefit for Ryder.”

The news follows Ryder’s announcement in January that it had accelerated growth in its supply chain solutions business by completing its acquisitions of omnichannel fulfillment and logistics services provider Whiplash and warehousing, distribution and transportation solutions provider Midwest Warehouse and Distribution System.

“The acquisitions are consistent with our strategy to accelerate growth in our higher-return supply chain business segment,” Ryder Chairman and CEO Robert Sanchez said at the time.
