Agata Stepnik is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Digital Communication at the University of Sydney, working with Professor Terry Flew on his ARC Laureate project Mediated Trust. Her doctoral thesis explored users’ social media curation practices and how these impacted news visibility on these platforms. Her research interests include user agency in recommender systems, news production and consumption practices on social media, and platform regulation. Prior to her academic career, she worked in the Information and Communication Technology sector in Australia as a learning and development specialist, starting out as a technical support representative for a national Internet Service Provider in the days of dial-up connectivity.
