Klarna’s payment solutions available through Housecall Pro’s field service platform include pay in full, interest-free Pay in 4 and longer-term financing, according to the release.

These solutions give homeowners more ways to pay for repairs and home improvement projects, while helping home service professionals deliver a more seamless customer experience, the release said.

More than 200,000 home service professionals used the Housecall Pro platform, per the release.

“The home services industry has modernized rapidly, and homeowners increasingly expect the same flexible payment experiences they get everywhere else,” Ethan Senturia, president, platform at Housecall Pro, said in the release. “Together with Klarna, we’re helping pros deliver a more seamless customer experience with greater choice, transparency and payment flexibility, making it easier for homeowners to move forward with essential repairs and projects.”

Klarna Chief Commercial Officer David Sykes said in the release: “America’s tradespeople have modernized everything about how they run their businesses, except how they get paid. By bringing Klarna’s payment options to Housecall Pro, we’re giving plumbers, electricians, HVAC pros and other skilled professionals the payment flexibility their customers already expect.”

The PYMNTS Intelligence report “New Data: Defining the New Buy Now, Pay Later Consumer” found that 0.9% of consumers said they had used buy now, pay later (BNPL) for home improvement and maintenance purchases of $1,000 or more in the previous 12 months. The report also found that 28.5% of consumers said they had used BNPL for home furnishings and appliances purchases of that size.

“Consumers appreciate BNPL for its convenience,” the report said. “Forty-three percent of users cited its ease of use as the most common reason they chose BNPL in the last 12 months. Likewise, a quarter of BNPL users appreciate its flexible repayment terms. These trends underscore BNPL’s role in providing flexible financial solutions to diverse consumer segments.”

PYMNTS reported in May that Klarna’s first-quarter results showed that consumers leaning on BNPL for everything from groceries to larger-ticket purchases helped push the company deeper into everyday spending, while deposits, debit usage and point-of-sale financing increasingly are part of its growth story.
