Remember that song you used to sing as a kid, “the more we get together, the happier we’ll be” ? Maybe the lyrics would have turned out differently if the song’s composer had been able to witness the get-togethers on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau between House Republicans and Special Treasury Department Adviser Elizabeth Warren.
On Wednesday in a note to Warren, House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) requested she reserve a “full day” for another hearing as early as this month, according to the Wall Street Journal.
“In light of the inability of all members of the subcommittee to have an opportunity to ask you questions, and your unwillingness to provide direct and responsive answers to a number of important questions, the committee would like to further discuss your plans for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the design and funding of the agency, and the limited checks and balances that apply to it,” wrote Issa.
Issa in the letter also stated that Warren’s calendar “looks completely free during the month of June” and that he wants to work with her to find a time for another hearing, which would be before by a smaller subcommittee this time.
“This committee will fulfill its constitutional duty to provide this necessary oversight,” Issa continued.

At the May 24 House hearing, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) accused Warren of being dishonest regarding the agreed upon length of her testimony. Hundreds of Elizabeth Warren supporters subsequently lashed out at McHenry on his Facebook page following the hearing, according to the Huffington Post.
